Australian firm Ascent Pharmaceuticals has issued a recall of one batch of paracetamol after concerns bottles may contain a foreign tablet.

The recall is being led by the firm as well as Cipla Australia, in consultation with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) after fears that a peach-coloured, triangular tablet may have contaminated Febridol Paracetamol 500mg 100 tablet bottles.

When contacted by in-Pharmatechnologist.com, Karen McTavish, Managing Director Watson Pharma - who bought Ascent Pharma from Strides in 2012 – said the firm is “working closely with the TGA and the manufacturing site to address the queries.”

She could not confirm what the mystery tablet was, nor further details about the manufacturer or facility the batch was produced in to confidentiality reasons.

According to website catalog.md, Febridol is manufactured by Cipla and GenPharm Australia.
