The site – which provides cGMP pilot, clinical and commercial scale manufacturing for prescription and over-the-counter products – is one of three “Centers of Excellence” DPT set up in 2010 as part of an efficiency drive.
Site general manager Lyle Flom said: “The addition of this high-speed filling center supports current demand, provides for future growth and helps DPT maintain its leadership position in semi-solid and liquid manufacturing.”
The line can fill up to 200 bottles a minute according to DPT, which said the new filling capability provides “bright stock supply chain services to clients seeking an external solution to their private label manufacturing needs.”
The investment is the second client-driven expansion DPT has made in as many months. In September the contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) bought a plant in New Jersey from Sweden-based erectile dysfunction drug developer, Meda.
At the time Gene Ciolfi, vice president and general manager of the CMO’s Lakewood site operations said: “The Meda Pharmaceuticals space allows us to meet the needs of our clients today and beyond.”
