Dutch pharma policy NGO Health Action International opens Brussels office

Health Action International (HAI) has set up an office in Brussels, Belgium in a bid to further influence European pharmaceutical policy and improve access to medicines and public health.

The Amsterdam-headquartered non-governmental organisation (NGO) seeks to impact a wide range of pharmaceutical policy issues, everything from international trade agreements and EMA rules to oversight of drug safety by the European Commission.

These efforts will be further facilitiated by a new operation in Europea's political capital according to HAI policy advisor Aliénor Devalière who said: “Our new location will put us in the thick of policy developments as they happen and allow us to work more closely with partners and policy-makers.”

This was echoed by Tim Reed, the NGO’s executive director, who said: “This expansion is an important step in truly bringing our message of equitable medicines access to the heart of the European Union.”
