India launches online import license application portal

Indian drug and API importers can apply for licenses online through a new service launched by the Central Drugs Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO).

The service, which was launched last week, is designed to streamline and accelerate the process of obtaining the clearances needed by companies brining active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms into India.

Last month, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare sought feedback on the biggest regulatory difficulties in India as part of a Government campaign to reduce red tape and create “a favourable atmosphere for the growth of the pharmaceutical industry.”
