Envirotainer sets up Delhi service centre

Envirotainer has opened a ‘service station’ in Delhi, India to help local API and generic drug manufacturers comply with international shipping regulations.

The cold chain shipping container firm said the service station – its 57th unit worldwide – will provide Indian active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturers and drug producers with access to its RAP t2 RKK t2 containers.

Spokesman Suat Toh cited the “more stringent regulatory landscape internationally” as the main driver for the investment.

He explained the firm “noticed Indian pharma-manufacturers are continuously improving their cold chain quality management and strengthening the demand for high quality cold chain solution.”

Initially, operations at the Delhi unit will focus on the two cold chain containers. However, Envirotainer said it may assess the site as a release return station for its range of e-containers, which are for the shipment of APIs and drugs by air.

APAC expansion

Sweden-based Envirotainer has expanded its network over the past twelve months, including setting up a US headquarters in New York and an office in Singapore.

More recently the firm established a service centre in Shanghai, China in collaboration with Air China Cargo.

The overall aim is to establish a solid import export route for APIs and finished pharmaceuticals according to Bourji Mourad, Head of Global Partner Management & Compliance at Envirotainer.

He said: “The partnership with Air China Cargo is another positive step forward in China, APAC and indeed worldwide, as more stations and capacity are added to the portfolio in order to support the growing demands.

The Delhi site will connect with hubs in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Frankfurt and Geneva.
