The new offering includes multiple services in a single software license that helps pharma companies increase adherence.
According to the company, Medisafe for Pharma enables companies to monitor ongoing adherence showing demographic trends, cohort-level insights, competitive benchmarking, etc. The software also allows companies to collaborate with Medisafe on patient recruitment.
Boston's Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in partnership with Evidation Health, previously tested Medisafe’s medication adherence app in a randomized control trial of 390 patients. Patients were monitored with an at-home Bluetooth blood pressure cuff.
As Outsourcing-Pharma.com previously reported, at-home monitoring and the use of applications in clinical trials have increased as the industry focuses on patient centricity.
Jon Michaeli, Medisafe's EVP of Marketing and Business Development, described Medisafe for Pharma as an essential “Beyond the Pill” initiative – one of many buzzwords which have emerged along with several initiatives to increase patient engagement.
Sponsors such as AstraZeneca and Bayer say a more patient-focused approach will expedite clinical trials and will give CROs a competitive advantage.
