IPEC China joins EXCiPACT, promoting excipient safety, quality

The global excipient certification organization has announced IPEC Association (China) Limited as its fifth member, joining IPEC Europe, IPEC Americas, FECC, and PQG (UK).

EXCiPACT asbl provides a Certification Scheme for independent third party GMP and/or GDP certification of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of pharmaceutical excipients worldwide.

"IPEC China's vision includes the promotion of excipient safety and quality throughout the pharmaceuticals supply chain in China which IPEC China believes is aligned with EXCiPACT's strategy,” IPEC China told In-PharmaTechnologist in a statement.

Since its launch in 2012, EXCiPACT has built expertise in certifying excipient suppliers globally helping to ensure the application of consistent and appropriate expectations for good distribution and manufacturing practices. IPEC China believes joining EXCiPACT will help our two organizations work more closely with mutual benefit to achieve these common goals."

IPEC Association (China) was inaugurated in July 2008 and currently includes 34 members from both local and international pharmaceuticals excipient suppliers.

According to EXCiPACT, IPEC Association has recently been helping the program increase its visibility in the region, which has resulted in EXCiPACT agreements with two international Certifying Bodies - BV China and SGS Asia/Pacific. The agreements provide the EXCiPACT Certification Scheme in the region.

To date, certifications have been awarded by BV China in 2015 to Boai NKY Pharmaceuticals Ltd in 2015 and by SGS to Nanjing Duoyuan Biochemistry Co., Ltd.

EXCiPACT expects more certifications to be awarded later this year.
