Biometrics CRO Cytel expands offerings

Cytel has expanded its footprint in Europe, further adding to its big data capabilities and “more traditional” contact research services.

The biometrics contract research organization (CRO) and clinical research software provider added new offices in Barcelona and Paris, bringing the company’s employees to more than 800 across 10 offices in Europe, USA, and India.

The new sites enable Cytel to grow its team of biostatisticians and statistical programmers.

According to the company, the Barcelona location will also serve as a hub for Cytel’s data science group, which adds big data capabilities to the company’s service offering.

Cytel is also hiring biostatisticians and statistical programmers at its Paris facilities to support both functional service partnerships and study-based projects.

The Barcelona office will also increase its capabilities in both these areas, which will allow the company to provide services of “a more traditional CRO,” Yannis Jemiai, VP of Cytel Consulting, Software Solutions and Marketing, told Outsourcing-Pharma.com.

Jemiai said most of Cytel’s clients are in the clinical development space. However, one area where the company has not been involved, but hopes to make inroads, is in post approval.

Our expertise is working with clients to define the problem that they are trying to address, and to find the question that needs answering,” added Jemiai.

Asking the right question is really the key,” he said. “If you have a lot of data, but if you’re not asking the right questions, then a lot of that information is useless or not actionable.”
