West said the expanded plant will help cater for growing demand for delivery devices, particularly for systems used to administer treatments for diabetes and monitor glucose levels.
The firm predicted it will hire 100 employees over the next five years.
West also confirmed it has renamed the contracting business that operates the Mulhuddart facility - the Tech Group—explaining that the division will now be called “West.”
The expansion is one of two investments West is making in Ireland. In 2014 the delivery device firm announced it would build a manufacturing facility in Waterford, Ireland.
The plant will make a range of product, including packaging components for insulin injector cartridges, and is expected to bring another 150 jobs to the area.
Karen Flynn, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at West said: “We are excited about the growth and expansion we are experiencing in both our contract manufacturing business in Dublin as well as our proprietary products business in Waterford, both of which will support increasing demand from our global customer base.”
The Waterford plant is expected to begin full commercial operations in 2018.
