The AAALAC has inspected Envigo's isolator breeding facility in India, which the contract research organization says is an important growth market.

In its first accreditation of 2017, Envigo has been granted full accreditation from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International Council for its Hyderabad, India-based facility.

The facility features various equipment and technologies, ventilation systems, and automated water systems. The accreditation is the company’s sixth since its launch in 2015.

"The AAALAC accreditation in India is important to demonstrate to our customers the quality they can expect from the facility is consistent with the rest of the Envigo network,” Oscar Perez, director, global product marketing, told Outsourcing-Pharma.com.

Several of the company’s rodent strains are available in India, which Perez said is an important growth market for the company.

There is a significant demand for high-quality vendors of research models in India to support domestic Indian pharmas and the biomedical community as well as Western pharmas with R&D facilities in India,” Perez said.

The company is aiming to have all of its European and Asian research models sites accredited by AAALAC. All of its US-based sites have already been accredited.
