Parexel and Sanofi partner to advance wearable tech use in clinical trials

Parexel and Sanofi have launched a pilot study that will examine the use of remote data collection devices in clinical trials.

According to the contract research organization (CRO), the collaboration will explore patient sensor and wearable device use in clinical trials. The goal is to demonstrate the technology’s scientific and medical viability – which has been a barrier to widespread adoption.

The pilot study uses Parexel’s recently launched patient sensor solution, which is powered by the Perceptive MyTrials Analytics platform, in April.

As Xavier Filinois, president of Parexel Informatics told us at the time, the solution is designed to create efficiencies for sponsors.

Due to the nature of the collaboration, Parexel can not provide much comment, though a spokesperson for the company told us it is committed to advancing its technological capabilities.

PAREXEL believes there is significant potential for wearables based on the digital transformation currently happening across the industry,” the spokesperson said.

The pilot study is underway and final study results are expected “in the near future,” the company said.
