The contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) currently employs around 50 people at its Durham, NC laboratory service site.
As part of the decision to move its headquarters from Wilmington, NC to Durham, the company expects to add “critical new jobs” to support technology expansion into biologics, as well as the establishment of the new headquarters.
Until the full transition is complete in 2018, Alcami will house executive offices at both sites.
The Wilmington facility currently employs more than 450 and accounts for approximately 35% of Alcami’s overall business, according to the company.
The company also recently invested $6m in upgrading its laboratory service operations at the site.
As Outsourcing-Pharma.com previously reported, approximately 5,000 square feet of the Technology Center was converted to newly reconstructed laboratory space. Since January 2015, Alcami has grown its development teams by 10% and has invested $1.6m in equipment.
