The new application – Marken Viseo – enables patients to track home deliveries of clinical trial materials and the pickup of biological specimens via a mobile device or computer, according to the supply chain organization.
“In a highly evolving technology-based world, patients expect the same type of tracking and end-to-end visibility as they experience in other areas of their lives,” said Christine Noble, director, global marketing at Marken.
“Marken Viseo is designed to help patients lead as normal a life as possible while participating in a clinical trial. Scheduled and tracked deliveries of clinical drug products and pickups of biological specimens helps to streamline their own daily lives while enrolled in the trial,” she told Outsourcing-Pharma.com.
Patients are able to view the shipment’s progress in real time and are also provided a picture of the driver in order to know who to expect. They are also able to rate the experience on-screen immediately following the driver’s arrival or departure.
“Real-time driver traceability can translate into improved patient expectations and confidence with their direct to patient or direct from patient experience,” said Noble. “The instant feedback rating option is important to ensure a good patient-driver relationship and it will allow Marken team members to take action immediately on any issue or potential areas for improvement.”
Driver activity is also viewable to the Marken team overseeing the trial through the company’s cloud-based booking and tracking system, Maestro. “For clients, more deliveries and appointments can be successfully achieved on the first attempt which is an obvious benefit for cost and time efficiency,” said Noble. Though clients have no access to Marken Viseo in order to ensure patient confidentiality, she explained.
