Softbox launched its Green Recycling Service as an eco-friendly way to provide recycling options for cold-chain technology packaging components.

Green Recycling Service, according to the company, was launched as a way to provide recycling services to biopharma companies that used Softbox for cold-chain delivery. Temperature control packaging can be recycled through a one-fee service managed by Softbox.

John Hammes, general manager of Softbox US and Canada, told us that the services were developed simply because of client demand: “We are hearing from our current and targeted customer base an increasing demand for ‘green’ options,” said Hammes.

The service will provide a collection of packaging waste and delivery to the recycling center, according to Hammes. They further explained, “The materials are shipped to secondary markets, both domestic and international, where they are converted into new products (they are not reused in our business sector).  The end product results in high-quality products in each of the new commercial sectors.”

Softbox is working with a recycling of packaging materials specialist in this service. There is no investment required for customers but the services will remain in the US per the capital needed for the recycling machinery, said Hammes. He also stated that should further demand occur, additional sites will be added.
