Through XpertDox’s partnership with the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), patients and clinicians will be able to track heart failure related clinical trials.

XpertDox’s clinical trial search and engagement platform XpertTrial was created to provide patients and health care providers with up-to-date information on actively recruiting clinical trials.

Kara Whelply, communications director at XpertDox, told us that the decision to partner was an easy one, as the HFSA sought, and continues to seek, a platform to expand heart failure care through collaboration.

“A central focus behind this effort is improving patient access to care by leveraging big data,” said Whelphly.

The platform is a natural language processing search engine designed to accelerate patient and clinician access to clinical trial data and information. It can match roughly 70,000 keywords across all diseases, procedures, symptoms, and specialties to recruiting clinical trials.

The specific proprietary algorithm uses big data to generate network mapping between diseases and clinical trials and will be used in the partnership to ensure the connection of heart failure patients and interested clinicians in recruiting trials.

“It is important for the heart failure community to specifically know about recruiting clinical trials because without their participation the development of new treatments, medications and innovations for heart failure will be severely delayed,” Whelply explained.
