TrialAssure releases anonymizing SaaS to enable sponsors to share clinical trial data, as the industry shifts towards utilizing big data while maintaining patient privacy.

The limited release of TrialAssure’s latest software-as-a-service (SaaS) application, Anonymize, will allow sponsors to anonymize clinical trial data automatically, to ease challenges that may arise when sharing data while still maintaining patient privacy.

TrialAssure stated that the SaaS will anonymize this data using industry-standard techniques that can be reused and customized for each dataset. It also has the capability to assign a risk score associated with the re-identification of transformed data, based upon thresholds set by the sponsor.

“The pharmaceutical industry is moving towards sharing data more openly. Health authorities and scientific journal editors alike may require greater levels of data transparency in the not-so-distant future,” Mohamad Zahreddine, CIO of TrialAssure, said in a statement.

End users can build a library of custom and reusable variables to reapply the same anonymization rules across studies, in which over time, a library develops to make the total process more efficient.

“In the age of big data, research organizations can leverage pre-existing, anonymized data to speed-up the development process for life-changing medicines,” Zahreddine continued.

Anonymize will join the ranks of TrialAssure’s suite of transparency tools that allow for the sharing of information across health authorities without compromising patient privacy.
