The company’s plan to build a global network of local home care providers was announced in 2018 and the first patients were treated by Marken’s care providers in the beginning of 2019.
The service is now active globally and fully integrated throughout Marken’s suite of services, according to Marken. The home health care service includes drug administration, biological sample collection, patient assessment, and exams, which traditionally would be conducted at the site.
As part of its direct-to-patient logistics services, Marken’s home health care and nursing services is expected to improve patient recruitment and retention by facilitating decentralized, home-based clinical trials.
“The service will expand the global reach and capabilities for patient enrolment into trials by fully supporting virtual trials with at-home study drug administration and increasing recruitment opportunities,” Kimberly Finn, vice president of Marken’s Global Patient Centric Services told us.
According to Finn, the company has also established global standard operating procedures to oversee the nursing providers.
Marken stated that the service is in compliance with applicable regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR. Additionally, the company has adopted a new operating software in order to reduce paper-based study visit documentation
