Located in Memphis, Tennessee, the newly-established facility will cover 260,000-square-feet and add 22,500 pallet positions to the company’s inventory storage capacity.
According to Eversana, the center is expected to enable multi-channel distribution of pharmaceuticals, boosting the company’s current operations, which include shipments of more than 300 million products annually.
“We continue to see an increased demand from clients who need best-in-class distribution and third-party logistics services to help get their products to pharmacies and ultimately patients,” Danny Williams, president of channel management at Eversana, told us.
According to Williams, clients look for service providers with strong inventory accuracy rates, and Eversana “annually maintains an accuracy rate higher than 99%.”
The cost of the investment for the new facility was not disclosed.
Following this expansion, the company’s distribution facility footprint will total nearly one million-square-feet, consisting of four distribution centers in the US – three in Memphis and one in California.
For the newly-established facility, Eversana has received Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributor (VAWD) certification, according to the criteria established by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
This certification aims to ensure protection of the drug supply chain against counterfeit and contamination, in a time when the industry is facing losses from counterfeit drugs.
Williams also told us that the company has seen an increase in demand for storage and distribution of temperature-sensitive products, a market need that it expects to address through the recent partnership with the cold-chain logistic services provider, Cryoport.
Earlier this year, Eversana also announced an expansion of its footprint in Asia, with the opening of four new offices in China, Japan, Singapore and India.
