LabCorp ups pathology services

LabCorp acquires South Bend Medical Foundation’s diagnostic clinical laboratory testing business, which pathology and blood banking services to patients in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.

South Bend Medical Foundation (SBMF) will continue providing services to hospitals and physicians and will expand its offerings via the recently announced collaborative relationship with LabCorp.

As part of the collaboration – financial terms of which were not disclosed – the companies will provide integrated pathology services and improve access to LabCorp’s Dianon Pathology and Integrated Oncology laboratory services.

Joyce Simpson, MD, SBMF president, said the transaction will enable the non-profit health care provider to focus on its core business of pathology and blood banking services.

“I am confident that our customers and patients will benefit from the enhanced clinical laboratory services that LabCorp can offer, and I look forward to working closely with LabCorp in a new pathology partnership as SBMF expands its professional services,”​ she said in a statement.
