Boehringer Ingelheim adopts a label management system developed by NiceLabel, replacing manual quality control procedures with digital technology.

Boehringer Ingelheim announced a collaboration with NiceLabel, a developer of label design software and label management systems, under which the former will implement a standardized labeling process for its drug products, based on the latter’s services offering.

The Label Management System (LMS) created by NiceLabel ‘fitted the bill’, according to Boehringer, which stated that the service will allow the company to “achieve more seamless ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) integration, make label changes easier and drive further operational efficiencies.”

Moreover, the system includes a label designer for the creation of label templates, which will enable Boehringer to replace its manual quality control procedures with a completely digitized quality assurance process.

The LMS will be integrated with the pharmaceutical company’s enterprise resource planning software, providing a centralized way of updating label information and leading Boehringer to “save valuable time and resources previously dedicated to manual quality assurance tasks,” the company stated.

LMS is initially integrated at Boehringer’s production sites in Ingelheim, Germany, and Sant Cugat, Spain, with the company planning to expand the adoption of the service across its facilities globally.

Coming up next to implement the service are the company’s facilities in Dortmund, Germany, and Koropi, Greece, although these two implementations are planned for non-production processes, such as warehouse and quality management.
