The set of services, known as AcuTemp Plus, is expected to meet an increased demand for temperature-controlled shipments due to the specific needs for the preservation of biologics, including cell and gene therapies, CSafe stated.
AcuTemp Plus packaging is designed to maintain the preferable internal temperature of the shipment, by utilizing CSafe’s ThermoCor Vacuum Insulated Panels. The packaging system is available in several sizes and temperature profiles.
Moreover, along with AcuTemp, the client is provided with different track and trace options to monitor the shipment – as well as the company’s retest and reuse program, known as Repaq, which allows clients to have their shipping boxes inspected, cleaned, and thermally requalified, in order to reuse them for the next shipments.
According to the company’s CEO, Patrick Schafer, during tests, the reusable packaging technology presented temperature control capabilities that outlast similar products available on the market ‘by a large margin’.
In October 2019, the company signed an agreement with LOT Cargo, forming an ‘essential’ partnership to ensure continuance of the cold-chain logistics services for biologics, Shea Vincent, the company’s global product manager told us at the time.
