Wasdell, a UK-based packaging and manufacturing provider in the UK, has opened a quality control laboratory in Dundalk to analyze products for its pharmaceutical clientele.

Wasdell, a UK-based company that producers pharmaceutical packaging and products, has opened a quality control laboratory. The firm reports the lab has landed a nod from the Health Products Regulatory Approval (HPRA) agency to offer chemical and physical analysis of pharmaceutical products, in order to ensure they’re meeting appropriate regulations and registered specifications and reaching the individual client’s specific standards.

Until this point, Wasdell offered quality control testing through its facilities in the UK. The firm reports the addition of the Dundalk lab will enable the firm to expand its range of analytical services to customers across the UK and Europe.

The expansion of our services supports the needs of our current and future pharmaceutical customers and the laboratory has already been well received and is already proving to be in demand,” said Alan Clarke, quality control supervisor.

Clarke added that the facility’s close proximity to the Dundalk Institute of Technology stands to bring in “the brightest science graduates” to the company’s technical workforce.

Services offered in the new lab include stability testing and release testing using up-to-date instruments (such as HPLC, UV, dissolution apparatus, FTIR, and auto titrator). Further, the company is open to adding additional services per client needs.

Raj Gaur, a qualified person with Wasdell, headed the setup of the laboratory; Gaur reportedly has a broad range of experience setting up QC laboratories.

We’re very pleased that the new laboratory at Dundalk is now authorized to support the pharmaceutical industry in quality control testing,” Gaur commented. “The Dundalk quality assurance and control team is rapidly growing, and will continue to do so to meet the needs of our customers.”

The laboratory offers excellent, professional services located in fantastic, modern facilities for quality control, packaging services, and clinical trials services and we look forward to welcoming more new clients on board,” he added.

Colin Newbould, Wasdell’s quality director, remarked, “The opening of the Quality Control laboratory in Dundalk is a huge step to support a full-service operation for Wasdell and increase our abilities for clinical testing, allowing us to develop services such as stability and quality control testing.”
