Why do you think it is important to attend SCOPE?
SCOPE is the go-to destination for sharing innovative approaches in clinical operations. Beyond the full agenda of sessions and thought leadership, SCOPE has always been a top space for collaboration across the clinical development ecosystem, from sponsors to vendors and technologies. Clinical operations teams are at the core of diverse stakeholder needs so it follows that collaboration is central to the experience at SCOPE.
What do you hope to achieve this year while you are there?
I'm looking forward to hearing directly about the challenges and opportunities sponsors see heading into 2024 and to having face time with our colleagues in sessions and the exhibit hall.
eClinical Solutions will be at booth #512 and when I demo our data infrastructure and analytics platform elluminate in person, it allows me to see how our offering supports their needs and get real-time input on the business problems and use cases elluminate solves.
Do you have an inkling what the buzz theme will be this year?
We all know that AI was the top topic of 2023. Last week, eClinical Solutions released the results of our annual Industry Outlook 2024, and AI has overtaken automation as the top industry trend. However, there is a delta between the industry's anticipated results from AI and the rate of AI adoption. The data shows many are still in the exploration phase with AI. So beyond "AI-everything," I believe the trend we'll see at SCOPE, especially given this timing in the year, will center around cycle times, efficiency, and ROI.
I expect (and hope) that we will see conversations at SCOPE that are more detailed about the practical steps for tech adoption and success, whether that be AI or automation. At this point our industry is aware that advanced tech capabilities can help with the efficiency gains needed to be nimble and data-driven, but applied use case sharing is a necessity to help the industry achieve desired results.
For those who have never attended SCOPE before, what would you say to entice them?
SCOPE 2024 has all the pressing topics of today on deck for discussion. The agenda is packed, and the vendor and partner ecosystem will be lively and collaborative. I'd encourage newcomers to SCOPE to take advantage of the many chances for learning and to really engage, ask questions, and explore new methods to bring back to your organizations.
What part of it are you looking forward to the most?
Our eClinical Solutions team is really looking forward to re-connecting with our partners, clients, and colleagues; so many of our industry friends view SCOPE as the kickoff event of the year for clinical development – of course especially for those in operations, but also for leaders in clinical data management and other functions, and from our CRO and tech partners, too.
Our client Lorenzo Balsamo of Tango Therapeutics has collaborated with us at SCOPE in prior years, sharing how he's used our elluminate data platform for sample management tracking and other use cases for data oversight and efficiency.
This year he has a prominent role as an advisor and track moderator for an entirely new program addition at SCOPE for high-growth biopharma. I'm looking forward to joining the sessions of his new track!
Also eClinical Solutions will be sharing real results from our AI offering within elluminate, along with ROI data from other elluminate products and oversight use cases, plus the results of our Industry Outlook 2024 report. I look forward to the conversations that will spark with SCOPE attendees.
