By leveraging diverse data sources and advanced analytics, the company says it empowers the healthcare continuum to make informed clinical decisions, streamline processes, and improve patient outcomes. Its mission is to transform healthcare delivery by addressing gaps in care and supporting the development of personalized interventions, ultimately driving patient-centered innovation and enhancing overall healthcare quality. We spoke to the team to find out more.

Can you provide an overview of OMNY Health's mission and the key objectives driving your work in the healthcare industry?

OMNY Health is a data ecosystem that connects providers and life sciences companies to fuel partnerships that drive powerful patient-centered innovation. The company aims to transform healthcare delivery by empowering the healthcare continuum with diverse data and insight sources from its national network to streamline processes, enhance efficiencies and help inform clinical decision making which in turn, improves patient outcomes. The data is also leveraged to identify gaps in care that support the development of personalized and targeted interventions that address unmet patient needs.

Could you explain how OMNY Health leverages previously untapped data sources to break down barriers across healthcare systems? What unique insights does this approach provide to healthcare providers?

By leveraging previously underutilized data to create a unified language across the nation, our technology breaks down traditional silos between providers and life science companies, enabling seamless communication and collaboration. Organizing complex data streams equips providers with invaluable insights into records of over 75 million patients across the U.S., empowering them to make more informed decisions – enhancing patient care, and improving outcomes.

How does OMNY Health ensure compliance and maintain data security while handling sensitive patient information?

OMNY Health enters into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) and acts as a Business Associate to its data providers. This agreement holds OMNY accountable to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule. In accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule, we minimize the risk of re-identification of patients using the Safe Harbor and Expert Determination methods. In addition, OMNY has a robust security program, as evidenced by its SOC2 Type 2 certification and work toward achieving HITRUST certification.

What specific challenges do you see in achieving equitable healthcare access, and how does OMNY Health address these challenges through its platform?

Many factors can make it challenging for individuals to access the health care they need to prevent and treat illness. Surfacing data on differences in patient populations utilizing preventative care options or in the pharmaceutical and medical care services they receive can elucidate information on individuals with unmet needs and support developing programs to help address these gaps in equitable care. Not only do we provide solutions to support examination of these data at the provider-level, they also support benchmarking services to allow providers to see how they compare to peer organizations. We recently launched a new Social Determinants dataset that incorporates data on educational, transportation, community support and other factors to further understand these population differences and develop targeted interventions that consider these challenges and address health equity gaps.

Can you share examples of how OMNY Health's technology has led to more informed decision-making among physicians and improved patient outcomes?

Our technology has significantly enhanced informed decision-making among physicians and improved patient outcomes through various applications of real-world data (RWD) for real-world evidence (RWE). For instance, by characterizing patient populations, physicians can tailor treatments to specific groups, improving the precision of care. Understanding the burden of disease and unmet needs allows healthcare providers to prioritize and address critical areas more effectively.

Additionally, OMNY Health's data helps elucidate treatment patterns and factors associated with treatment adherence and switching. By discovering reasons for treatment discontinuation and switching through natural language processing of clinician comments in unstructured notes, healthcare professionals can intervene more strategically. Characterizing dose interval adjustments and understanding the relationship between disease activity measurements and subsequent treatment choices further fine-tune patient management strategies.

Comparative effectiveness studies based on changes in disease activity measurements provide insights into the most effective treatments. Understanding racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities in dermatologic conditions and social determinants of health (SDOH) helps address and reduce healthcare inequities. Moreover, developing algorithms to identify dermatologic flares using natural language processing of clinical notes and structured procedure and diagnosis codes aids in timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment.

For ophthalmic conditions, characterizing baseline biometric measurements of the eye contributes to better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. These comprehensive data insights empower physicians to make more informed decisions, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

To enhance the delivery of Real-World Data and accelerate clinical trial research and drug development, the company has established several key partnerships. Collaborations with groups like Datavant support data linkages, while partnerships with numerous RWE consultancies and technology firms leverage our data to support their business models with life sciences and provider customers.

Our company's data is uniquely positioned as the only clinically deep and pan-therapeutic broad dataset sourced from a large, nationally representative, and diverse provider population. This dataset is purpose-built to support compliant follow-up collaborative research partnerships with these providers, facilitating impactful research and innovation in healthcare.

In what ways does OMNY Health tailor its services to accommodate varying levels of data acumen and resource availability among healthcare providers?

We offer a flexible model for the industry that hinges on making it easy for providers to enter data partnerships and users of the data to access only the data needed to support their business needs. Providers can supply as little or as much data as their capacity allows and can grow with the platform over time to include benchmarking, participating in quality improvement initiatives, registry submissions, and even support for clinical trial participation. A similar model of data access for subscribers that ranges from data only subscriptions to expanded engagement that includes analytic services and engagement in collaborative research opportunities.

How do you envision the future of data sharing and collaboration within the U.S. healthcare system, and what role does OMNY Health aim to play in shaping that future?

We work closely with integrated delivery networks, community hospital systems, and specialty practices to harmonize their data, enable custom analytics, and create a real-word data pipeline. With an easy-to-use, secure data-sharing platform, the company empowers provider organizations of all sizes to participate in data-sharing partnerships with life sciences organizations. Life sciences organizations can access deidentified data sourced directly from the organizations that generate it, but in a common data format and under one contract that supports greater efficiencies in the process across both organization types.

What are some emerging trends or opportunities in healthcare data analytics and insights that OMNY Health is particularly focused on?

The RWD ecosystem is under rapid advancement.

It's estimated that 80% of data surrounding patient characteristics and the delivery of care have been inaccessible to clinicians and researchers.

There have been rapid developments in technologies to surface and make accessible new data sources to support new RWD sources, especially in the areas of unstructured data such as images, voice recordings, and clinician notes.  Additionally new data are being developed based on enhancements in diagnostic testing, including genomic-level data.

Continued development in data linking techniques and the ability to de-identify these data will also continue to be critical components in ensuring data integrity and maintaining patient privacy going forward.

Tools such as ChatGPT and generative AI technologies are expected to accelerate the time to data being captured, transformed into usable RWD, and then developing insights and action-plans based on that data.

Finally, what upcoming developments or initiatives can we expect from OMNY Health in the near future, and how do you anticipate these will impact the healthcare landscape?

The company is continuing to expand its footprint by partnering with more health providers and life sciences companies and further building out their data sets.

Our product roadmap over the next year will continue to expand the number of partnering health systems to surpass 100M lives available to support data partnerships.   We will continue to recruit health systems from across the United States and across multiple specialty areas as well as settings of care to reflect the diverse set of providers delivering care today.

We also are adding additional content from health system EHR and other IT systems to augment the existing data, such as information on immunization/vaccinations and social history data that report details on alcohol and tobacco use and other lifestyle habits.

Additionally, we are building a suite of SaaS offerings to accelerate the time to insights.  SaaS offerings will be geared toward monitoring shifts in market landscape over time, or in enabling customer and provider segmentation to better understand patient journeys and shifts in treatment paradigms over time.  Recent advancements in technology will allow for increased flexibility in how teams work with these tools to generate insights and open the potential user base for OMNY solutions to include individuals that don't have a programming/coding background.
