In the ever-evolving world of pharmaceutical logistics, nuVizz has emerged as a key player, delivering innovative solutions that streamline the delivery management process.

The company also optimizes routes and ensures compliance with stringent industry regulations. Guru Rao, CEO of nuVizz, chats to OSP and provides insights into how the company’s solutions are making a significant impact on the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

Revolutionizing healthcare logistics

The nuVizz SaaS platform is designed to bring visibility, control, and cost savings to every stage of the fulfillment lifecycle. "From the first mile to the last mile—and everything in between—we’re trailblazers in supply chain optimization and digitization," says Rao. He emphasizes that their mission is to offer simple, sustainable transportation solutions for businesses of all sizes, including those in the healthcare sector.

Healthcare logistics has undergone significant changes, with the demand for speed and real-time information becoming increasingly prevalent. Rao notes, "The delivery speed and real-time information that is prevalent in general logistics are now seeping into healthcare as well." nuVizz caters to the industry by providing pharmaceutical distribution (B2B), home prescription deliveries (B2C), and lab logistics (B2B) solutions, all aimed at enhancing the end-customer experience through efficient delivery management.

The critical role of track and trace technology

In an industry where precision is paramount, track and trace technology plays a crucial role. "Track and trace technology is important for any logistics business, but it is even more so for the pharmaceutical industry as it directly impacts people’s healthcare," explains Rao. He highlights that from a regulatory standpoint, it’s essential to ensure that products are delivered to the right recipient, with item-level visibility maintained throughout the supply chain.

The technology behind nuVizz’s platform is network-based and leverages mobile technology at the end of the delivery chain. "Our technology brings all delivery stakeholders on the same page with real-time data sharing," Rao says. This ensures that pharmaceutical companies can maintain accurate and secure data, with each product being scanned at every stage, establishing a clear chain of custody.

Delivering tangible benefits to pharma companies

The benefits of using nuVizz’s track and trace solutions extend beyond compliance. "Pharmaceutical companies can now track every item in their supply chain across myriad partners they work with, ensuring compliance with DSCSA (Drug Supply Chain Security Act)," Rao explains. He adds that by accessing and providing real-time visibility into deliveries, distributors can significantly elevate their customer experience.

One notable success story Rao shares involves a major pharmaceutical distributor that implemented the nuVizz platform across its vast network, which includes 26 distribution centers, over 300 carrier agent locations, and more than 6,000 drivers delivering products to 200,000 customers daily. "Using nuVizz, this customer improved its delivery accuracy to nearly 99.5%, reduced customer inquiries by 70%, and achieved significant cost savings on lost returnable assets," says Rao.

Overcoming implementation challenges

Implementing track and trace technology in a fragmented pharmaceutical logistics space poses challenges. According to Rao, "Traditionally, each delivery partner used different technologies with varying degrees of sophistication, making it harder to achieve network-wide visibility in real-time." However, nuVizz’s platform overcomes these challenges by integrating disparate technology partners into a single, unified view.

Future trends and innovations in pharma logistics

Looking ahead, Rao is excited about the potential of emerging technologies in the logistics industry. "We’re just starting to skim the surface of the many applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the logistics industry," he notes. AI and ML will play an increasingly important role in analyzing data, reducing delays, and improving delivery accuracy.

nuVizz is continuously innovating, with new features being added regularly. Rao mentions upcoming enhancements, including improvements to customers’ accounting functions, multi-leg shipment movement capabilities, and the introduction of OCR (optical character recognition) to automate data extraction from documents.

Ensuring seamless integration and compliance

One of the standout features of nuVizz’s platform is its ease of integration. "nuVizz is an API-first platform, making integration within the platform, as well as with external systems, very simple," Rao explains. This flexibility also extends to ensuring regulatory compliance across different regions, with the platform designed to easily add industry-specific or region-specific process compliance steps.

A commitment to customer success

Rao emphasizes that customer feedback is integral to nuVizz’s continuous improvement process. "About 70-75% of our product roadmap enhancements today are driven by our customer feedback and requirements," he shares. The platform is designed to be user-friendly, with little to no training required, and nuVizz offers 24/7 support to ensure clients have everything they need to succeed.

As pharmaceutical companies continue to navigate the complexities of global logistics, nuVizz’s comprehensive solutions are helping them stay ahead of the curve, ensuring that they can deliver critical healthcare products with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
