BD looks to wine to improve roller bottles
Biosciences claims to have done just that with its new BD Falcon
TufRol range.
You might imagine that improving on the design of a bottle would take some doing, but BD Biosciences claims to have done just that with its new BD Falcon TufRol range of EZ Roller laboratory bottles, just introduced in the UK.
The company says it has designed the neck, cap, shoulders and base of the bottles "with maximum performance and comfortable handling in mind."
Researchers producing cells or intracellular products will find the sloping shoulders of the 850cm2 bottles a big plus for increasing product recovery, said the company, which notes that it is now possible to choose between a standard or indented base, the latter of which mimics the design of a wine bottle to provide a convenient grip.
Other useful features of the bottles include standard or vented twist caps with secure seals, vacuum gas plasma treatment for consistent cell attachment and a greater impact resistance due to the proprietary manufacturing process. They are also non-pyrogenic, gamma irradiated and manufactured in inline with ISO 9002 Quality System standards, according to BD Biosciences.
