Parsons expands in Europe
and construction in the pharmaceuticals industry has been acquired
by US firm Parsons Corp.
The acquisition ties in with Parsons' strategy of expanding its capabilities and geographic reach in the pharmaceutical and biotechnologies infrastructure sector. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
MWC, based in Cork, is Parsons' first European acquisition and gives it a base in a country which has developed into a hub region for pharmaceutical manufacturing in recent years. MWC operates in Europe as well as Africa, providing project management, engineering, validation, and construction services with a particular specialisation in water treatment facilities for clean industries.
In fact, MWC and Parsons have worked together in Ireland for several years on a variety of projects. The companies said that the fit between the two was complementary, with MWC's activities in processing and engineering sitting well with Parsons' project management and construction skills.
Parsons, headquartered in Pasadena, California, is one of the world's largest engineering firms employing over 12,000 staff.
