Denny launches new booklet label for pharma
pharma sector that incorporates a secondary, 'pealable' label that
can be used for administration or other functions.
The new line is an extension of Denny Bros' multipage label format, which increases the amount of information available for the dispenser and patient. The new secondary label is incorporated into the main wrap label design (pictured).
The idea behind the Multi-Kleer label is that it can be taken off the product at some stage in the distribution process to perform a useful administration or back up function. For example, it might become a note that can be attached to a patient's record card or it could be used to flag up other information relevant to the usage of the medicinal product.
An earlier version of this format leaflet-label was manufactured by Denny Bros with silicon backing sheets which included a hole or window to allow for the removal of the label. But the new method of production using a polypropylene backing sheet that eliminates the need for these holes and provides a reel that is much easier and more efficient to handle and apply, according to the company.
These multipage labels are of particular use in the pharmaceutical industry where there is often a need for usage instructions in several languages, or for additional space which might require some link to records or extra space for handwritten 'comments' or reference notes. The label's laminate front cover is resealable and protects the booklet inside.
One early adopter of the new label is UK-based clinical research company Quintiles. The company's Alistair Neally said: "the new label system is vastly superior to the previous design we have been using. The acetate backing is far more robust than the former paper version which is going to mean the combined label will run smoothly through our printers. This should reduce waste and printing time."
