Imaging service aims to save trial sponsors time and money

Money can be saved throughout early-stage and Phase II trials by using the Collect, Ready, Hold service in preemption of a central review of imaging data, according to WorldCare Clinical.

Companies using the new service will have their imaging data collected, standardised and stored in a single, secure database, all in accordance with the protocol.

This imaging data will then be easily accessible if a central review or independent panel access is requested at a later date, allowing for the trial sponsor to quickly respond.

Richard Walovitch, WorldCare Clinical’s (WCC's) chief medical officer, said: “Sponsors conducting Phase II trials many times either don't have the funding in place or have yet to receive a request from the FDA to conduct a central review of their imaging data.

Collect, Ready, Hold was developed in response to these challenges as a cost-effective and preemptive approach for sponsors to collect, quality control (QC) and store images in a central database until it is determined if a central review of the imaging data is required.”

WCC charges a transaction fee for each image it processes but will then store these free of charge for up to two years, with longer periods possible if an annual charge is paid.

By adopting this service WCC believes clinical trial sponsors can avoid paying monthly management fees and have their images readily available if the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requests to see them.

In addition, the technology underpinning the service is compatible with other readers, which means the images can be sent to any contract research organisation (CRO) a sponsor chooses to review them.
