ClearTrial upgrade adds trial forecast customisation options
ClearTrial 4, like its predecessors, includes algorithms for forecasting clinical trial budgets and timelines. Building on this, ClearTrial 4 allows users to create and incorporate their own algorithms that use in-house clinical experience and expertise to more accurately forecast trials.
Having both options means ClearTrial 4 works immediately but can also be modified to offer “greater speed, accuracy and flexibility in study planning, forecasting, and tracking", said Andrew Grygiel, vice president of marketing and product management for ClearTrial.
Algorithms and tasks are added to the software as a service (SaaS) package using ClearTrial Manager. This “easy-to-navigate” systemallows users to add, delete or edit factors impacting on forecasts, such as the trial site and its location, through dropdown menu lists.
Built-in features
In-house algorithms complement built-in forecasting capabilities of ClearTrial Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Clinical study cost and time drivers are assessed and updated to give users a breakdown of how the tasks and sub-tasks of a trial will impact on the project as a whole.
This allows users “to conduct fast and accurate study planning simply by entering their clinical assumptions into the software”. Furthermore, use of ClearTrial algorithms means users can make cost and time predictions for elements of which they have no prior in-house experience.
ClearTrial says this offers users “the best of both worlds”. It also makes the system a viable option for biopharm of various sizes, with small firms appreciating the built-in features and SaaS model, and larger companies benefiting from the option to use in-house clinical trial knowledge.
As such, it continues work by ClearTrial to “compress study timelines while reducing study risks, helping to overcome a challenging operating environment”, said Grygiel.
