IMCD completes Mutchler takeover to access the US pharma excipients market
IMCD has entered the US pharmaceutical market with the acquisition of specialty API and excipient distributor Mutchler.

The deal – financial terms of which were not disclosed – saw Rotterdam based IMCD add Mutchler’s warehouse in Puerto Rico to its network. IMCD has also hired the 32 people employed by Mutchler and will take on the firm’s relationships with a number of third party warehouses in the US.

An IMCD spokesman told us the deal makes the firm’s entry into the US market, which he predicted would benefit the firm’s customers.

Whilst IMCD is a leading distributor of pharmaceutical ingredients in many countries, this is IMCD's first entrance into the pharma market in the US. There will of course be some overlap with the multi-national customers which will benefit from IMCD's global expansion.”

Mutchler is a distributor of pharmaceutical excipients. However, the firm has recently expanded the portfolio to include some chemical intermediates.

Mutchler’s facility in Puerto Rico supplies specialty ingredients to the pharmaceutical customer base in the country.
