Cut price tablet compression
tablets to be made in three simple steps, eliminating the need for
preprocessing.
Minh Van Nguyen of Anaheim in California maintians that the process can be used to make tablets at low cost. He will be presenting his technology at the INPEX meeting, held 12-15 May in Pittsburgh.
The process, which he has dubbed 'simple compression' is used for binding pharmaceutical tablets with gelatin. Unlike the conventional method of preparing tablets, the technique could eliminate preprocessing, which would allow tablets to be compressed in only three steps: weighing, mixing and compressing. And by simplifying the process, labour, manufacturing, and equipment costs could be greatly reduced, according to the inventor.
A pharmaceutical manufacturing chemist, Nguyen says he developed simple compression to reduce the cost of medications.
"Drug costs are skyrocketing. I wanted to do my part and find a way to reduce expenses any way I could."
Nguyen is exhibiting at INPEX with the hopes of finding a manufacturer or licensee.
